Bradley’s Bait and Tackle LTD is a Kitimat-based, locally owned and operated business that has served Kitimat’s resident fishermen and women since it opened its doors. Seeing to the needs of people from across the globe who come to Kitimat looking to take full advantage of Kitimat’s amazing fishing opportunities, Bradley’s hopes to be your one-stop shop for all your fishing requirements. Our pride and joy are our handmade jigs. We pour, clean, paint and tie all our jigs in-house. You can come in any day and see the employees hard at work tying feathers to our homemade jig heads, preparing them for the season of fishing ahead. Bradley’s Bait and Tackle was recently sold by local Andrew Towse, who bought it in 2016, to Alysia Luethje, who was born and raised in Kitimat. Aly worked at Bradley’s Bait and Tackle for four years before Andrew decided to retire and help this young entrepreneur break into the business world and keep Bradley’s Bait and Tackle local. We love interacting with the community and are passionate about getting people of all ages involved in outdoor activities and ethical fishing practices. Swing by Bradley’s and pick our brains about local regulations and general outdoor activity knowledge in the area.
Question: How are you supporting other local businesses?
Answer: Bradley’s does its best to support as many local businesses as we can. We try to source as many items as we can from the surrounding areas and Canada as a whole. For office and craft supplies we head to Pyramid Office Supplie and Your Dollar Store with More, here in Kitimat. Any food or treats (especially around Halloween) come from Kyle’s No Frills and Save On. We also welcome any outdoors small businesses with open arms. We recently brought into the Bradley’s family MTB Lures (a lure company based out of Telkwa, BC), Fresh Trek Foods (a freeze-dried food company based in Burns Lake, BC) and Mustelid Tackle (a lure company based in Kitwanga, BC). We are constantly looking to encourage small, local businesses so we can all succeed at what we love to do!
Question: What social and environmental practices are you proud of?
Answer: Bradley’s Bait and Tackle prides itself on being knowledgeable about safe, ethical and legal fishing/hunting practices. We love the outdoors, and we want the next generations to be able to enjoy them as much as we do. We make sure we educate ourselves on the latest hunting and fishing regulations available.
Bradley’s takes pride in its community as well. We are avid sponsors of the local youth sports teams. We are a social hub for various clubs to sell tickets and memberships, including the Kitimat Concert Association, Kitimat Rod and Gun, Kitimat Fire Mountain Shooting Club, Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School Drama Student Productions and the Kitimat Rotary Club.
