Sea to Sky Welding

Sea to Sky Welding provides custom metal fabrication and design, from industrial work to unique interior artistic decor since 2016. We love to collaborate with builders, architects, interior designers, homeowners and dreamers, from early designs and drawings to finishing touches on the end product. We have the experience and the equipment to bring solutions to any form or function challenge – the attention to detail that we put into all of our projects are second to none and are good enough to stand on their own. We are a proudly CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certified steel shop, specializing in steel, aluminum and stainless steel. With two shops and a modern fleet of welding machines and tools, we’re equipped to handle any sized job. Sea To Sky Welding is made up of a young and dynamic team of craftsmen and women. Providing quality service and products is our teams commitment to all of our clients.

Question: How are you supporting other local businesses?

Answer: We shop as local as we possibly can. We make around 75% of our purchases right in Squamish, and about 15% more in Whistler and the city. For our inventory purchases, we use the local steel supply shop (Triton) in Squamish rather than sourcing it from the City. For our services, we use Garibaldi Graphics for printing, Westland for insurance, D. Johnson Equipment for repairs on our equipment, Great Canadian Oil Change for vehicle service, Baltech Electronics for computer repairs, Alta Lake Electric for repair and instalments, Squamish Finishing Solutions and Sea to Sky Courier. When we want to reward our staff, we’ll order food from our favourite local restaurants and bakeries in town.

Question: What social and environmental practices are you proud of?

Answer: We are proud of how we‘ve been able to grow and create good jobs in the Sea to Sky corridor. We started in 2-16, and now have 16 full-time staff. We care about their well-being, and work to help them achieve work-life balance. We do lots of team building, and provide medical and dental benefits. We offer training for people who want to go into the trade, and are working on offerings courses for women in welding in future. During the COVID-19 crisis the owner Bob worked really hard to prevent layoffs and keep on as many people as possible.

We frequently donate to local causes, and also donate our services to organizations if they supply the materials. We support trail building for the Squamish Off Road Cycling Association (SORCA), and donate to Under One Roof since helping the homeless is really important to us.
