Question: How are you supporting other local businesses?
Answer: When we buy products for our inventory, we buy from B.C. based-businesses whenever possible. For a few of our purchases, we buy from Canadian companies. A few of the things we buy are not available in Canada, so we have no choice there. We buy environmentally friendly products and buy from LGBTQ2S+ owned businesses whenever we can. We get so many of our services from local businesses. All our accounting, bookkeeping, repair, maintenance, IT, legal, and other services are with B.C.-based businesses. We buy marketing services from the Mission City Record, advertising from What’s On! Mission, printing from Sue’s Copy, rent venues from The Stage and Spark Art Collective, and buy clothing at A. Poet’s Creation.
Question: What social and environmental practices are you proud of?
Answer: We’re proud of the financial contributions we’re able to make to support our community, in particular the LGBTQ2S+ community. We donate 30% of our profit along with 30% of services in kind. Our charity of choice is the Fraser Valley Youth Society. Our company is a part of the local environmental stewardship program – each month we participate in a monthly garbage pick up in our community along with our customers.
