The Kop Coffee Roasters is a small-batch coffee roaster located on Annacis Island, keen on delivering the beauties of coffee to our community.
Mann has over 10 years of tremendous experience in the coffee industry. He started the journey as a green bean hunter, travelling deep into African countries meeting with local farmers and sourcing quality specialty coffee. Eventually, he set up a roastery and chain of coffee shops in China. During that time, he was certified as a licensed Q grader. This gave him the tools and techniques for grading green and roasted beans against world-class standards. He has since relocated to Canada to start the Kop.
Question: How are you supporting other local businesses?
Answer: In our neighbourhood, 100% of the population is working force. Our role is to make sure everyone can work with genuine, cheerful energy! A few local suppliers and service providers we use are Tapio for our packaging and cafe products, To Live For Vegan Baked Goods, and Seaforth Supply Chain Solutions for coffee storage, along with several others. The pandemic has significantly affected our life as well as many industries, especially for food and travel. It inspired us to deliver “The Coffee City” Collection of drip bag coffee. Our designer choicely illustrated the most spectacular landmarks and attractions in Greater Vancouver to package the coffee in hopes of sharing the area’s spectacular beauty. Supporting local tourism goes hand in hand with supporting local businesses.
Question: What social and environmental practices are you proud of?
Answer: We roast our coffee beans and offer our main product, the “Pocket Coffee Drip Bag”. The filter of this drip bag is 100% compostable and made from paper. In comparison with capsule coffee, this convenient coffee produces ZERO waste, the truly best companion for travellers and campers. Further from here, we also proudly serve fresh roast coffee beans to all 7 halls of Delta fire department. They protect our lives and we do our part to power them up with great coffee! We provide local jobs! We currently have three awesome employees on our team!
