Question: How are you supporting other local businesses?
Answer: Good Omen supports over 120 local and Canadian artists, makers, and small businesses. Supporting local is the core of our business and what these makers create for us all to cherish and enjoy is truly incredible, inspiring, and healing. Some of our most popular local lines include Badger and Burke, Blume, Fleurs, Hives For Humanity, Homecoming Candles, Le Meadow’s Pantry, Melt Confectionery, and Pink House Organics. To highlight a few of the Indigenous-owned businesses we carry, we are happy to share Bangin’ Bannock, Copper Canoe Woman, Quw’utsun’ Made, Sisters Sage, Skwalwen Botanicals, Standing Spruce Farms.
Question: What social and environmental practices are you proud of?
Answer: Over the last year and a half we’ve had the opportunity to donate a percentage of our profits each month to local organizations and fundraisers that support BIPOC, environmental justice and Indigenous land defenders, and marginalized communities. We are proud to share that we have donated over $15,000 to 25 different organizations including Environmental Youth Alliance, Spirit of the Children Society, Urban Native Youth Association, WISH Drop-In Centre, Black Woman Connect, and Raven Trust. It is important for us to use the shop as a way to contribute to those doing the good work of creating meaningful change in our society.
In addition, we are always looking to stock handmade goods that are beautiful, nourishing, and useful and which are also people friendly, animal friendly, and planet-friendly. We take good care in considering the intention behind the product, the selection of ingredients, as well as the types of packaging with regards to the end life of the products once they’ve been used. We also reuse packaging material and boxes we receive for our outgoing online orders.
