BC Buy Local Campaign

BC Buy Local Campaign

BC Buy Local celebrates the contributions that B.C. businesses make to the local economy and to their communities. We’re working to illuminate the market of local businesses, improve the profile of local businesses, and drive more local purchasing. Our buy local campaign began as a consumer campaign in 2011 and in 2023 the campaign expanded to include a business audience.

For consumers, the campaign’s pink BC Buy Local dots identify B.C.-owned businesses and B.C.-made and grown products. Posters, rack cards, and digital marketing materials communicate how businesses create jobs, circulate their dollars to support the local economy, and add value to our B.C. communities.

For businesses, we help measure and communicate their community impact and profile businesses to help tell the story of their community contributions.

The campaign consists of:

  1. Annual campaigning during holidays/events that involve consumer purchasing (e.g. Mother’s Day, Hanukkah), or opportunities to profile specific businesses (e.g. International Women’s Day, Indigenous People’s Day)
  2. Multicultural campaigning (e.g. Lunar New Year, Black Futures Month) We provide campaign materials in several languages.
  3. Regional campaigns developed custom according to the needs and timing of community partners throughout the year
  4. BC Amplify Local business-to-business campaign during Small Business Week in Canada (Oct)
  5. BC Buy Local Week consumer campaign during the busy holiday shopping season (Nov/Dec)
