Sprout Organic Market is a charming Queensbury neighbourhood store offering freshly curated organic, locally made artisanal food, personal care items, lifestyle goods and health solutions for every home and everybody. Question: How are you supporting other local businesses?
Answer: We stock local products whenever we can. We work with about 30 vendors, and 70% of them are local – either BC based (60%) or Canadian (10%). We use 100% local service providers! This includes all our accounting & bookkeeping, banking & financial services, distribution, IT services, media (advertising, etc.), recycling, compost & waste management services and repair & maintenance providers.
Question: What social practices are you proud of?
Answer: Sprout is 100% organic – we support certified organic companies. We pride ourselves in always looking to local providers first. We have started many products fresh out of farmers markets. We have long term employees and mentor many teens as their first jobs and help them ready themselves for the professional workforce.
Question: What environmental practices are you proud of?
Answer: We’ve always recycled and composted before it was common place. All our staff are located in North Vancouver – all our full-time and part-timers – reducing the need for staff travel. We also support suppliers who use more sustainable practices so that the waste produced overall is reduced.
